Ashley Bodell, Community Outreach Manager for the Crozat Family Foundation, stated that the foundation’s recent car donation to Women’s Recovery Services (WRS), an addiction recovery program for women and children in Santa Rosa, will assist the program in meeting the needs of its residents on their path to recovery. Bodell gave her statement to Wine Country Times on July 11.
“Thank you to G&C Auto Body and the Crozat Family for sponsoring this giveaway so that WRS can continue their amazing work with women and children in their journey towards recovery, stability, resilience, and getting back on the road to life,” said Bodell.
Bodell said the Crozat Family Foundation, which provides refurbished cars to those in need, received a donation nomination for WRS that reported their inability to meet residents’ needs due to the condition of their current vehicle. “Their main transportation has been a 2005 Toyota Sienna with high mileage, and at the last oil change they were told the van was quickly failing and would soon need a new power steering wheel and a new head gasket,” she said. “These repairs would be more costly than the value of the vehicle, and the unreliability of the vehicle jeopardizes their ability to fulfill crucial needs for their residents.”
According to Bodell, the foundation responded to the nomination by surprising WRS board members on June 3 with the delivery of a 2017 Honda van to the front door of the facility with a bow and balloons. “Having access to reliable transportation significantly enhances their ability to provide essential services to their residents, as many women and children who enter treatment have accompanying dire medical, dental, and psychiatric conditions requiring immediate treatment,” said Bodell.
The Crozat Family Foundation was created to help individuals and families “who have hit a pothole in the road of life,” according to its website. Through their vehicle donation program, they are able to gift 24 cars per year to Sonoma County residents in need of a vehicle.
