Rep. Mike Thompson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 4th district, recently addressed issues ranging from affordability for American families to government transparency and agricultural policy in a series of social media posts.

On February 25, 2026, Thompson posted about his priorities for working families: “Affordability is the game plan. Lowering costs for housing, energy, child care, and health care, and rebating illegally collected tariffs back to the American people. Hard-working families come first.”

Later that day, he commented on ongoing concerns regarding missing FBI records related to the Epstein investigation: “It is unacceptable that key FBI records tied to the Epstein investigation are still missing or withheld. Scrubbing files to protect anyone undermines trust in our justice system. All the files must be released – it’s the law. Transparency and accountability cannot be selective.” This statement comes amid continued public scrutiny over federal investigations and calls for transparency.

In another post on February 25, Thompson criticized President Biden’s State of the Union address for omitting discussion about challenges faced by farmers and ranchers: “Longest State of the Union speech in history and no mention of the challenges facing farmers and ranchers. Thompson has served in Congress since 1999 after replacing Frank Riggs as representative for California’s 4th district. Born in St Helena, California in 1951, he currently resides there at age 72. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico (Fact sources: [source](https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/T000460), [source](https://www.house.gov/members)).
