Rep. Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address agricultural issues and youth engagement in politics.
On March 12, 2026, Thompson shared that he “Hosted an agriculture roundtable with @sencabaldon to hear directly about the challenges facing our ag families. Our ag community feeds the world, and I’ll keep working with our state and federal partners to make sure they have the support they need.” He highlighted ongoing concerns among agricultural communities and emphasized collaboration between state and federal stakeholders.
Later that day, Thompson commented on rising food prices and supply chain disruptions: “Groceries are already too expensive, and now fertilizer supply disruptions could push food prices even higher. Farmers are paying the price, and soon families at the checkout line will too. We need to end this administration’s war in Iran and focus on delivering real relief for”. His remarks pointed to global events affecting domestic agriculture costs.
In a separate post on March 12, Thompson discussed civic engagement with local students: “Had a great conversation with students at Davis High School about my path to public service, what it’s like working in Congress, and how young people can get involved in our democracy. Their questions and ideas give me a lot of hope for the future.”
Thompson has represented California’s 4th district since 1999 after succeeding Frank Riggs. He was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and continues to reside there. He graduated from California State University, Chico in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
