Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, addressed concerns over the country’s economic challenges and commemorated Constitution and Citizenship Day in a series of social media posts on September 17, 2025.
In a post from September 17, Thompson highlighted economic difficulties faced by Americans: “This week’s headline roundup: Americans across our country are facing layoffs and struggling to pay their bills. Our system is broken and more Americans are struggling each day. We need change. If you have a story to share about how our country’s economic policies are hurting https://t.co/jqWyW7KLNW”.
Later that day, Thompson marked Constitution and Citizenship Day by reflecting on the importance of the nation’s founding document: “237 years ago, our founding fathers signed the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution plays a meaningful role in the lives of all Americans, especially those who are Americans by choice. Thompson has represented California’s 4th district in Congress since 1999 after succeeding Frank Riggs. Born in St Helena, California in 1951, he continues to reside there at age 72. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico (1982).
