Rep. Mike Thompson, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, posted a series of messages on his social media accounts in late January 2026 addressing immigration enforcement and paying tribute to a fellow legislator.
On January 25, 2026, Thompson advised community members on their rights during encounters with immigration agents and provided contact information for his offices. He wrote: “In the event of an encounter with immigration agents in our community, make sure you and your family know your rights. For help with immigration casework call one of my offices:
Napa Office: (707) 226-9898
Santa Rosa Office: (707) 542-7182
Woodland Office: (530) 753-5301″.
Later that day, Thompson expressed gratitude for Rep. Doug LaMalfa’s service to Northern California and extended condolences to LaMalfa’s family. On January 25, he stated: “Rep. Doug LaMalfa loved Northern California and spent his life calling it home. I’m grateful for his service and for the opportunity to work alongside him to support our farmers, help prevent fires, and tackle the home insurance crisis. Jan and I are holding Doug’s wife Jill,”.
The following day, on January 26, Thompson criticized federal immigration enforcement agencies and called for legislative action regarding their funding. He posted: “ICE and border patrol are not making our communities safer. They’re terrorizing our communities. The Senate needs to stop funding for ICE, Kristi Noem needs to be impeached, and ICE needs to get their asses out of Minnesota.”
Mike Thompson has represented California’s 4th district since replacing Frank Riggs in Congress in 1999. Born in St Helena in 1951, he is currently aged 72 and continues to reside there. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico.
