Rep. Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on January 31, 2026, to highlight recent community activism, legislative priorities, and local business achievements.
In a post from the afternoon of January 31, Thompson wrote: “When our community speaks out, the world listens! Thank you to the over 1,000 neighbors in Napa who came out to support impeaching DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and to stop any more funding for ICE. Proud to be one of the first members of Congress to sign onto articles of impeachment”. The tweet referenced local efforts aimed at impeaching Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and opposition to further funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Later that day, Thompson addressed Social Security’s enduring significance since its inception. On January 31 he stated: “So much has changed in our country since the first #SocialSecurity check went out 86 years ago, but the promise of Social Security has not. Proud to fight to enhance benefits and protect this program for future generations!”
In an evening post on January 31, Thompson acknowledged local businesses during a chamber event: “Honored to join the Woodland Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner to celebrate our local business leaders and award recipients. In challenging times, Woodland’s small businesses continue to lead with resilience, service, and commitment to community. Proud to work in Congress”.
Thompson has served as a member of Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999. Born in St Helena in 1951 and currently residing there at age 72, Thompson is also an alumnus of California State University, Chico.
