Rep. Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to highlight local community events and address federal immigration enforcement issues in a series of posts published on February 1 and 2, 2026.
On February 1, Thompson congratulated local first responders for their involvement in a fundraising event: “Congrats to the Davis Firefighters on another fantastic annual crab feed! A great night bringing the community together in support of Thriving Pink and the families they serve. Grateful for our firefighters and the good they do on and off the job.”
Later that day, he commented on community advocacy for immigrants, stating: “Our community is speaking out and standing up for our immigrant community, standing up for our neighbors, our friends, people we don’t even know across the country who are who are being terrorized by an out of control, rogue federal agency. Our government is supposed to protect” (posted February 1).
Continuing his criticism of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Thompson posted on February 2: “ICE does not have proper oversight and accountability, and that’s why we’re seeing what’s happened in Minnesota and across the country. That’s why I voted against its creation and will be voting against funding for ICE when I get back to Washington.”
Thompson has represented California’s 4th district since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999. He was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 72. Thompson earned a BA from California State University, Chico in 1982.
