Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing topics ranging from youth leadership and community service to national sports events and immigration enforcement policy.

On February 8, 2026, Thompson expressed support for the Scouting America organization, writing, “For 116 years, Scouting America has developed America’s youth into its finest leaders. At no other time has the development of civic engagement, community service, and a moral compass been more important. I will continue to support and celebrate Scouting America as it develops https://t.co/1aPSQ71vc9”.

Later that same day, he commented on the significance of sporting events in fostering unity among Americans: “The Super Bowl reminds us of the unity that sports can bring when people come together to support their team. Good luck to the Seahawks and the Patriots today!” (posted February 8, 2026).

On February 9, 2026, Thompson addressed his ongoing opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “I voted against ICE funding last week, I’ll vote against ICE funding this week, and I opposed creating the agency in the first place. Under Secretary Noem, ICE has become a rogue agency. She must be fired, resign, or be impeached. We cannot allow ICE to terrorize our communities. https://t.co/2vVLbnaZv0”.

Thompson is currently serving in Congress after replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 as representative for California’s 4th district. He was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 72. Thompson graduated from California State University, Chico with a BA in 1982.
