Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district since 1999, recently addressed several issues on his social media account, including commentary on working families, a remembrance of the Monterey Park mass shooting anniversary, and concerns over illegal access to Social Security data.
On January 20, 2026, Thompson criticized an unnamed individual in a post: “This guy doesn’t have a clue what working families are going through.”
The following day, January 21, he marked the anniversary of the Monterey Park mass shooting with a statement: “On this somber anniversary, we remember the 11 lives taken from us and the community forever affected by the mass shooting in Monterey Park. The attack on Lunar New Year’s Eve targeted people gathered to celebrate their culture and serves as a painful reminder of the need for”
Later that same day, Thompson drew attention to privacy concerns involving government employees: “Read my statement on DOGE employees illegally accessing and sharing Social Security data:”
Mike Thompson was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 72. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico in 1982.
