Rep. Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to call for community action and legislative changes regarding federal immigration enforcement and local food access initiatives.
On January 28, 2026, Thompson invited constituents to participate in a public demonstration, stating, “Join me Friday, Jan. 30 at 4:00 PM at Veterans Park in Napa for the STOP ICE Day of Action. We’re demanding accountability and an end to dangerous DHS enforcement tactics after federal agents killed Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good. Stand with me and millions of Americans to”. The event is scheduled as a response to recent incidents involving federal agents.
Later that day, Thompson addressed South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s role in immigration enforcement policy, writing on January 28, “Kristi Noem: quit, be fired, or be impeached. I’m fighting to impeach her and prevent ICE from receiving any more funding.”
In another post dated January 28, Thompson highlighted his efforts to address food insecurity in rural communities by securing resources for local organizations. He stated, “Proud to have secured 375,000 for the @YoloFoodBank’s Mobile Pantry Truck Project. This project will expand access to food for residents who lack reliable transportation or have mobility issues, particularly in the rural areas of Yolo County. Thank you to the Yolo Food Bank for”.
Thompson has served in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 and currently resides in St. Helena, California. Born in St Helena in 1951 and now aged 72, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico (1982).
