Rep. Mike Thompson, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, recently used his social media platform to update constituents on his ongoing work and priorities, ranging from community engagement to health care access and civil rights remembrance.
On February 20, 2026, Thompson thanked local residents for their participation in constituent outreach efforts: “Thank you to everyone who came to my Sonoma Valley Office Hours. Whether you need help with immigration casework, passports, taxes, or navigating a federal agency, my team and I are here to help and to listen.”
The following day, he commemorated the birthday of a former colleague: “On what would have been his 86th birthday, we honor my friend and colleague, civil rights icon Representative John Lewis. I was proud to join him during the 2016 House sit-in to demand action on gun violence and again in 2019 when the House passed universal background checks. May” (posted February 21, 2026).
Later that same day, Thompson highlighted his advocacy for telehealth services: “Telehealth is a proven way to meet patients where they are. I’ve long supported its ability to save time, lower costs, and save lives. For seniors and people with limited mobility, telehealth can be the difference between getting care and going without it. That’s why I proudly” (February 21, 2026).
Thompson has served in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 as representative for California’s 4th district. Born in St Helena in 1951 and currently residing there at age 72, Thompson graduated from California State University, Chico with a BA in 1982.
