Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, highlighted the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and announced two local honorees in a series of posts on March 23, 2026.
In his first post, Thompson reflected on the impact of the ACA since its passage sixteen years ago. On March 23, he wrote: “16 years ago, we passed the ACA. Since then, I’ve heard from countless members of our community whose lives changed because of it. People could finally see a doctor, afford their prescriptions, and stop worrying about losing coverage. Congressional Republicans are making it”.
Later that day, Thompson recognized Margi Stern as Solano County Woman of the Year for 2026. In his post at 21:00 UTC on March 23, he stated: “Proud to announce Margi Stern as the 2026 Solano County Woman of the Year. For 37 years as a speech pathologist, Margi has championed those who often go unheard, and her impact extends far beyond the clinic. Shortly after, Thompson also named Leslie Lew as Napa County Woman of the Year for 2026. At 21:30 UTC on March 23 he posted: “Proud to announce Leslie Lew as the 2026 Napa County Woman of the Year. Mike Thompson has served in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 and currently represents California’s 4th district. Born in St Helena in 1951 and residing there today at age 72, Thompson earned his BA from California State University, Chico in 1982.
