Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district and chair of the Gun Violence Protection Task Force, marked the fourth anniversary of the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, with a series of posts on May 24, 2026.

In a post published at 19:03 UTC, Thompson wrote, “Four years ago today, 19 children and 2 teachers were senselessly murdered at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX. No child should fear going to school and no parent should fear that they won’t come home. As chair of the Gun Violence Protection Task Force, I remain committed to https://t.co/N2EcHOGKSv”.

Later that evening at 22:20 UTC, he congratulated his staff member Melissa Larios Perez for her academic achievement, “Congratulations to our Field Representative, Melissa Larios Perez, on graduating this weekend from Sonoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and government. Melissa is an important asset to our team and does fantastic work for constituents in Sonoma https://t.co/U1y2AMg4fp”.

At 22:43 UTC the same day, Thompson highlighted a milestone for Napa Valley’s wine industry, “As founder and co-chair of the Congressional Wine Caucus, it’s great to recognize the 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris, a milestone that helped establish our Napa Valley wine community as a world leader in winemaking. https://t.co/atJkCf1y58”.

Thompson has represented California’s 4th congressional district since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999. Born in St. Helena in 1951 and currently residing there at age 72, Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Chico, earned in 1982.
