Rep. Mike Thompson, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district since 1999, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on February 12, 2026.
In one post, Thompson criticized Congressional Republicans regarding firearm regulations. Later that day, Thompson commented on rising living costs in California and recent legislative action: “In 2025, California families paid more than $2,300 more just to cover basic living expenses. We should be lowering costs for the American people, not pushing policies that make life more expensive. Yesterday, we took an important step by voting to repeal the president’s”.
Thompson also weighed in on First Amendment rights and support for Senator Mark Kelly: “An important win for the First Amendment. Mark Kelly served our country in combat and now serves faithfully as U.S. Senator. Threatening to strip his rank or earned benefits for exercising his freedom of speech is cowardly and wrong.”
Thompson has represented California’s 4th district since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 and resides in St. Helena, California, where he was born in 1951 at age 72. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico.
