Rep. Mike Thompson, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, addressed several policy issues on March 28, 2026, through a series of posts on his social media account.

In an early evening post, Thompson highlighted his legislative efforts to address housing affordability: “Every American deserves a place to call home. That’s why I introduced the American Affordability Act, which expands the low-income housing tax credit, converts commercial properties into homes, and puts money back into your pocket.” (March 28, 2026)

Later that day, Thompson criticized the administration’s handling of ongoing military operations in Iran: “This administration said the war in Iran would last ‘just a few weeks.’ You don’t send ten thousand more troops if this war is almost over. We’ve already lost servicemembers and spent a billion taxpayer dollars per day in this war. This war needs to stop now.” (March 28, 2026)

He also commented on economic consequences stemming from the conflict: “Fertilizer supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are driving up costs for farmers, and that hits your wallet, too. Not only are you paying higher prices at the pump, now the grocery store could get even more expensive. This president’s reckless war with Iran is raising costs” (March 28, 2026)

Mike Thompson has served in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 and currently represents California’s 4th district. Born in St Helena in 1951 and residing there today at age 72, he holds a BA from California State University, Chico.
