Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, posted a series of statements on his social media account regarding the upcoming State of the Union and issues concerning immigration enforcement and American citizens abroad.

On February 23, 2026, Thompson announced his role in the State of the Union proceedings: “I’ve been selected as a designated survivor for tomorrow’s State of the Union, so I won’t be there in person, but I’ll be watching. Americans deserve accountability for the militarization of ICE, terrorization of our communities and killing of American citizens.”

Later that day, he highlighted community engagement during the event: “The State of the Union is tomorrow, and Bernie Narvaez will join me in Washington, D.C. to make our community’s voices heard. We must hold this President accountable for rogue ICE operations, reckless tariffs, and dangerous threats abroad. I’m proud to stand with Bernie as we”

In another post from February 23, Thompson addressed concerns about U.S. citizens’ safety overseas: “I’ve called on President Trump to take immediate action to evacuate Americans stranded in Mexico as cartel violence escalates. Protecting U.S. citizens abroad must be a top priority.”

Mike Thompson has served in Congress since 1999 after succeeding Frank Riggs and currently represents California’s 4th district. He was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and resides there today at age 72. Thompson holds a BA from California State University, Chico.
