Rep. Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of local and national issues in a series of tweets posted on February 6 and 7, 2026.
On February 6, Thompson highlighted the significance of local outdoor spaces: “The Bay Area Ridge Trail provides over 400 miles of public trails and counting, opening our beautiful outdoors to walkers, hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders. The beauty and ecological diversity of the San Francisco Bay ridge is unparalleled anywhere else in our country and I”.
Later that day, he referenced constituent feedback regarding Kristi Noem’s leadership: “Over nine thousand 4th District residents have called, emailed, messaged, commented, and responded to surveys to make one thing clear: Kristi Noem needs to go. Under her leadership, ICE has killed two U.S. citizens and continues to operate without body cameras, while allowing”.
In a tweet posted early on February 7 about political discourse at the national level, Thompson stated: “This isn’t a culture war issue. It’s common decency. The president’s racism is vile and unacceptable. We must stand against it.”
Mike Thompson has represented California’s 4th district since replacing Frank Riggs in Congress in 1999. Born in St Helena in 1951 and currently residing there at age 72, Thompson holds a BA from California State University, Chico (1982).
