Rep. Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on his social media account covering legislative efforts, local recognition, and community achievements.

On February 21, 2026, Thompson addressed the impact of tariffs imposed during former President Donald Trump’s administration. He stated, “Trump’s reckless tariff war cost American families and businesses billions of dollars. The Supreme Court struck down his tariffs, but that doesn’t make up for a year of higher costs. I’ve introduced a bill to refund that money back to you.”

The following day, on February 22, 2026, Thompson highlighted his guest for the State of the Union address: “Honored to have Bernie Narvaez as my guest for the State of the Union address this week. As an immigrant, Iraq War veteran, business owner, and as a Napa City Councilmember, Bernie has a long history of service to our country and our district, and he represents the best of our”.

Later that same day, Thompson congratulated local winemakers: “Congrats to the Napa Valley Vintners on raising $3 million yesterday at Premiere Napa Valley. It was great to see the wine trade from all over the world come to Napa and support our wine community.”

Mike Thompson has served in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999. Born in St Helena in 1951 and currently residing there at age 72, he is an alumnus of California State University, Chico.
