Rep. Mike Thompson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 4th district, recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing key national issues including presidential conduct, gun violence, and climate policy.

On February 12, 2026, Thompson criticized former President Donald Trump in a post: “Trump wants American taxpayers to pay him $10 billion. That’s unacceptable. Instead of working for the American people, he is suing federal agencies and attempting to pocket our tax dollars for personal gain. That’s why I introduced the Prevent Presidential Profiteering Act to https://t.co/51TlaePb6V”.

The following day, February 13, 2026, Thompson commemorated the anniversary of a tragic event: “Today marks 3 years since three students lost their lives in the Michigan State University shooting. May we continue to honor the victims by passing sensible legislation that will create a world without gun violence. https://t.co/fH7THu5SVB”.

Later that same day, he addressed environmental concerns related to recent executive actions: “This president is rolling back critical climate protections, putting our health, our environment, and our future at risk. I will continue fighting for science-based public health decisions that protect our communities and preserve our planet for the next generation.”

Mike Thompson has served in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 and currently resides in St. Helena, California. Born in St Helena in 1951 and now aged 72, Thompson earned his Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Chico in 1982.
