Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, shared updates on local funding and federal policy impacts in a series of posts on April 7, 2026.

In his first post, Thompson announced new infrastructure support for the City of Davis: “Proud to present $1,000,000 to the City of Davis to build a pedestrian and bicycle path connecting Olive Drive directly to the Davis Amtrak Station, making it safer and easier for residents to walk or bike downtown, access essential services, and connect to Amtrak and bus routes.” (April 7, 2026).

Later that day, he commented on the potential effects of federal legislation known as H.R.1: “According to the bipartisan National Association of Counties, H.R.1 is taking food off the table and stripping health care from millions of Californians. It cuts SNAP benefits, kicks nearly 1.5 million Californians off Medi-Cal, and shifts up to $9.5 billion in new costs onto” (April 7, 2026).

In another post that evening, Thompson highlighted his visit with student veterans at Woodland Community College: “Visited the Woodland Community College Veterans Resource Center to meet with student veterans and learn about the support they provide to those who’ve served. Our veterans earned their benefits, and we need to make sure they can access them. That’s why I’m fighting to protect” (April 7, 2026).

Mike Thompson has represented California’s 4th district in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999. He was born in St Helena in 1951 and currently resides there. Thompson holds a BA from California State University, Chico.
