Rep. Mike Thompson announces funding for Sonoma Valley and Lake County projects

Rep. Mike Thompson, who represents California’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, announced on his social media account that he has secured significant federal funding for infrastructure projects in Sonoma Valley and Lake County, as well as extending Lunar New Year greetings to his constituents.

On February 17, 2026, Thompson posted about new safety measures for Highway 12: “Proud to have secured more than $1 million to improve safety and access along Highway 12 in the Sonoma Valley. These funds will allow bikers and pedestrians to safely access community spaces and businesses along Donald Gap by creating much needed bike lanes and sidewalks. As a”.

Later that day, he shared a holiday message: “Happy Lunar New Year! As we welcome the Year of the Horse, may it bring health, joy, and new beginnings to families across our district and around the world.”

In another post from February 17, Thompson addressed improvements in Lake County: “Proud to secure $850,000 for Lake County’s South Main Street Project. This investment will widen and resurface the road, add a center turn lane and bike lanes, improve drainage, and underground utilities, making the corridor safer, smoother, and more accessible for drivers,”.

Mike Thompson has served in Congress since 1999 after succeeding Frank Riggs as representative of California’s 4th district. He was born in St Helena in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 72. Thompson earned his BA from California State University, Chico in 1982.
