Rep. Mike Thompson, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district since 1999, posted a series of messages on May 12, 2026, highlighting local initiatives and national awareness efforts.
In recognition of ALS Awareness Month, Thompson stated on his official account: “Across our country, thousands of Americans are impacted by ALS, and thousands more are stepping up to support them. During #ALSAwarenessMonth, we honor those living with ALS and thank the caregivers, advocates and researchers who devote their lives to supporting them.” (May 12, 2026).
Later that day, he acknowledged community contributions at a local event: “Congratulations to the team behind Dixon May Fair on another incredible year! Your commitment to preserving tradition, supporting our community, and bringing people together continues to make a meaningful impact on our district.” (May 12, 2026).
In another post on the same date, Thompson announced new funding for public recreation: “Proud to have secured $250,000 for the Tierra de Rosas Public Plaza playground. This funding will help provide a public park for families and our community to enjoy. Everyone deserves access to beautiful public spaces to come together as a community.” (May 12, 2026).
Thompson was born in St Helena in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 72. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Chico in 1982. As a long-serving member of Congress from California’s wine country region—having succeeded Frank Riggs—he has often focused on both local development projects and broader health advocacy.
