Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district and a lifelong St. Helena resident, recently highlighted several community and national issues through a series of posts on his social media account.
On March 13, 2026, Thompson celebrated the opening of a local housing initiative, stating: “Great to join our St. Helena community to cut the ribbon on the new Pope Street Workforce Housing Project. This development will bring new affordable rental homes to our community and help ensure local workers can live where they work. I was proud to support the federal grant”. The event marks another step in addressing housing needs for workers in St. Helena, where Thompson has deep roots as both his birthplace and current residence.
Later that day, he addressed concerns regarding Americans in volatile regions abroad: “Americans across the Middle East have been told to ‘DEPART NOW,’ but many have no way to leave. The State Department needs to step up and do their job. Americans are in danger.” The post reflects ongoing safety challenges for U.S. citizens overseas amid heightened tensions.
On March 14, Thompson shared insights from a visit to a local youth support program: “Great to tour Forget Me Not Farms. The farm provides therapy and mentoring programs to at-risk youth and abuse survivors while they care for animals and crops. Mental health is one of the most important issues facing our youth, and these services are key to supporting youth in”. His comments underscore mental health as an urgent issue affecting young people today.
