Rep. Mike Thompson, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district, recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative initiatives and community engagement. In a series of posts between February 23 and February 24, 2026, Thompson discussed mental health policy, the State of the Union, and constituent services.

On February 23, Thompson addressed the intersection of mental illness with homelessness and substance use: “Mental illness is often at the root of homelessness, substance use, and workplace challenges. Treating symptoms isn’t enough. We must invest in research that prevents these crises before they start. The following day, as the State of the Union approached, Thompson emphasized community representation by highlighting Bernie Narvaez’s background: “Today is the State of the Union, and we’re here to make our community’s voices heard. Mike Thompson has served in Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999. Born in St Helena in 1951 and currently residing there at age 72, he holds a BA from California State University, Chico earned in 1982.
