Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district and Motorsports Caucus Co-Chair, expressed condolences over the death of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch in a series of tweets posted on May 22, 2026.
On his official Twitter account, Thompson stated: “As Motorsports Caucus Co-Chair, I’m especially saddened by the passing of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. Kyle was an exceptional driver who won more races than anyone else across NASCAR’s three national series. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this” (May 22, 2026).
Later that day, Thompson shared a link for further reading with the message: “Read More: https://t.co/4edWkqOoTI” (May 22, 2026).
In another tweet posted in the evening, Thompson highlighted recent constituent services performed by his office: “My team and I are proud to serve #CA04! In April 2026, we closed 211 cases for constituents and recouped $326,050.57 in money owed to Fourth District residents. If you’re in need of help navigating a federal agency, please call my nearest office. https://t.co/jzx2EiZO61” (May 22, 2026).
Thompson has served as California’s 4th district representative since replacing Frank Riggs in Congress in 1999. He was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 72. Thompson graduated from California State University, Chico with a BA degree in 1982.
