Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district since 1999, marked the anniversary of the King Soopers Supermarket shooting in Boulder, Colorado and highlighted local community events in Sonoma Valley through a series of posts on March 22, 2026.

In a post commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Boulder tragedy, Thompson stated on March 22: “Five years ago today, a gunman took ten innocent lives at a King Soopers Supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. Today we remember every victim, including Officer Eric Talley who gave his life to protect others. But it is not enough to just remember, we must pass sensible legislation”.

Later that day, he acknowledged volunteerism in his district by writing: “Proud to join the Sonoma Valley community at the 2026 Star Volunteer Awards to honor the incredible volunteers that make our community the wonderful place it is for all of us. More than 40 residents were recognized for their service to more than 40 local nonprofits. This is a”.

Thompson also announced an upcoming public event with constituents: “TOMORROW at 5 PM I’m holding an in-person Ask Me Anything in Sonoma Valley! Come to Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center and ask me anything. I’ll be discussing the issues that matter most to our community, from protecting our democracy and holding this administration”.

Mike Thompson has served as a member of Congress since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999 and currently represents California’s 4th district (source: FACT 1). Born in St Helena in 1951 and now aged 72, he continues to reside there (source: FACT 2). He holds a BA from California State University, Chico (source: FACT 3).
