Rep. Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 4th district since 1999, shared updates on legislative actions and local events through his Twitter account on May 28, 2026.
On May 28, Thompson publicly opposed a Republican-sponsored bill in Congress, stating in a tweet, “Voted NO on Congressional Republicans’ HR 2616 because it would make school less safe and less welcoming for students. Forced ‘outings’ only serve to endanger kids and this bill represents a major intrusion of the federal government where it does not belong.”
Later that day, he expressed appreciation for student engagement at UC Davis: “Thank you to all the UC Davis students who joined our student town hall yesterday. It was great to join Chairman Aguilar and discuss affordability, federal funding cuts and student loan concerns with our next generation of leaders.” The event addressed issues such as education affordability and concerns about student loans.
In another post on May 28, Thompson highlighted developments in agricultural education within his district: “Excited for the Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ breaking ground on their new Napa Valley Center for Grape Growing and Farmworker Education. This will be a great place to bring our community together.”
Mike Thompson was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and currently resides there. He earned his BA from California State University, Chico in 1982.
