Sonoma County median home valuation prices fell by 2.1% in Q1

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2026 in Sonoma County fell by $15,500, while total sales increased by 10.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2026, 874 homes were sold in the county, with sale prices around averaging $740,000. This is a 2.1% decrease from the $755,500 median sale price during the same period in 2025, when there were 788 homes sold.

Based on the latest available data from 2021, the median property tax on homes in Sonoma County was $5,095, which equates to 0.7% of the median home sale price for the first quarter of 2026.

U.S. home prices continued to rise in 2025, with the national median reaching about $447,000 in June. That’s up 1.13% from a year earlier, according to Redfin. The data also show a significant gap in supply and demand, with 36% more sellers than buyers (a difference of 508,715 homes). By Redfin’s definition, a balanced market has seller and buyer numbers within 10% of each other.
