Enrollment at Round Valley Unified School District increased by 1.2% compared to previous school year

Round Valley Unified School District's schools enrolled 436 students in the 2022-23 school year, 1.2% more than the previous year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 57.1% of them were boys, and 42.9% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were American Indian or Alaska Native, making up 61% of the Round Valley Unified School District's total enrollment.

Round Valley Unified School District covers three schools within Mendocino County with its main office in Covelo.

Among the three schools in Round Valley Unified School District, Round Valley Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 304 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
