The Redwood Credit Union (RCU) is launching a video initiative to help students and families cope with emotions and feelings during the coronavirus pandemic.
One of the primary concerns for the general population during the pandemic is the impact on emotional and mental health that increasing isolation has. To help families and students that are suffering from these effects, the RCU has partnered with some of the leading mental health experts in the region.
“Parents, educators, mental health professionals and emergency departments are witnessing an unprecedented increase in depression, anxiety and behavioral issues in our youth. Young people are grappling with social isolation, stress and the loss of normalcy brought on by the pandemic. Watching these videos as a family is an easy way to start the conversation about learning to manage feelings," Mary-Frances Walsh, executive director of NAMI, Sonoma County, said.
The videos in the series are sectioned out by age group, with one video being made available per age group. The videos can be viewed on the RCU website.
RCU has remained committed to helping community members during the pandemic, with their investment in this video series being only one of the many actions that they have taken to contribute.
“Redwood Credit Union cares about its communities and recognizes that families are dealing with significant daily challenges. We believe we all play a role in educating kids and helping them become more confident. We saw this as a way RCU could help," Brett Martinez, RCU President & CEO said.
RCU is said to be working with local school districts to facilitate the distribution and availability of these videos to the public in order to have the maximum impact possible.
