Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) will be continuing to conduct all instruction and services remotely through the summer.
In a letter posted to the SRJC website, Frank Chong, SRJC president and superintendent, said that the school wants to proceed with caution.
“While I do not make this decision lightly, it is clear to me that the current infection and mortality rates in Sonoma County are far too high to consider a full return to face-to-face instruction,” Chong said in the letter.
Chong said in the letter that he is continuing to meet with Sonoma County health officials and the Sonoma County Office of Education about how they plan to proceed with vaccinations, however the plans are still developing.
Based on the process used for the fall semester, SRJC will be developing a list of prioritized courses that require in-person instruction, and will present that to health officials to approve, Chong wrote in his letter. They will also continue to stay abreast of changes to state protocols in regard to essential workers still present on the campus.
