Three Fat Guys Winery in Sonoma co-founder and owner Tony Moll said his business, like most, faced many trials to survive during the pandemic.

In a recent interview with Sonoma County Tourism, Moll said Three Fat Guys Winery had a tough year, like all other businesses in the area, but as soon as it was time to open, they were ready to go and wanting to help other businesses survive too.

"This last year has not only taken a toll on us, but many small businesses in Sonoma County, and families in general in every neighborhood, and it hasn't been easy," Moll said. "COVID-19 was a hard feat for us, along with everyone else."

Moll said the business was ready the day the county said businesses could reopen, and they helped other small businesses in the area by also giving them a space to begin the reopening process.

"The day we were able to reopen when the county lifted up the gates, we were running. We knew exactly what we needed to do. And the best part about it is where our tasking room is here on Broadway here in Sonoma, we have an expansive driveway and we were able to bring in restaurants and allow them to have a space to make money as well," Moll said. "We are a community-based small business, and to truly be able to support others, and give people an opportunity to sit on stage, it speaks to what we are about."

Three Fat Guys is owned and operated by former Green Bay Packers linemen Tony Moll, Daryn Colledge and Jason Spitz, the company's website said. Part of what sets the winery apart is the focus on French-influenced wines, Moll said.

"Here at Three Fat Guys, we hang our hats on French-influenced wines," Moll said.

Three Fat Guys began "on a lucky day in April 2006" when all three men were called for the Packers as being drafted. From that point on, the three became good friends, traveling together, sharing a part of their lives and bonding over the love of fine food and "great wine."

"Over the years of playing professional football together, the Three Fat Guys Wine label has taken on a different meaning: An everlasting connection to the memories of good times, humbling experiences and astounding victories. Drink every last drop as this wine will be memorable," the website said.

Moll said despite this past year being taxing on everyone, he is excited for the winery's parties to return and things to get back to normal.

He said what he most looks forward to is being a community again and filling the streets with laughter through grander holiday celebrations and barbecues, "and of course, drinking wine."
