On May 30, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement on the Bipartisan Budget Agreement:
“The Bipartisan Budget Agreement will help prevent a default on our debt while rejecting extreme demands from the Republicans. This agreement protects veterans, seniors, and the historic successes of the last Congress,” said Thompson. “Extreme members of the Republican majority took us to the brink of an economic disaster, needlessly worried veterans and seniors, and embarrassed the United States in the eyes of our allies and adversaries. House Democrats will again provide leadership and work to pass this bill and get it to President Biden’s desk.
“There are parts of this agreement that I don’t like, but we must pass this bill as soon as possible to avoid a default and keep our economy strong.”
