The Women's Recovery Services of Sonoma County (WRS) held their annual Climb 2 Recovery fundraiser on March 16, ending the event with over $120,000 raised for their programs.

The event, which was sold out with over 132 guests attending alongside WRS board members and program sponsors, included a catered dinner, climbing exhibition, and a keynote address from the founder and owner of Session Climbing gym, Kevin Jorgeson.

A short film documenting three women who went through treatment with WRS was shown during the evening. The three women were also in attendance at the fundraising event and were able to speak to the crowd.

“The room was filled with resounding applause as the three WRS climbers stood triumphant after climbing Goat Rock as part of Climb 2 Recovery," said Executive Director Diane Madrigal in a press release. "They were not alone: they were not forgotten: They were embraced by their community."

The funding from the event will cover operational and treatment costs for the programs, such as the three transitional houses for women and children covered by WRS after going through the treatment program.

WRS will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025 with another gala, with location and date announced at a later date.

WRS, located in Santa Rosa, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1975 that helps families recover from a mother’s addiction, according to its website. The organization’s goal is to break the cycle of addiction for women by providing a safe residence that allows neglected children to remain with their mothers while in recovery.
