Sonoma County plans to open three new vaccination centers in the next eight days in order to serve seniors older than 70 years of age, a press release said.
The vaccination centers will be located at the Fitness Center at the Petaluma campus of Santa Rosa Junior College, Huerta Gym in Windsor and Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Hall, which brings the total number of clinics to 19 that are set to receive vaccines from the County of Sonoma Department of Health Services.
The Petaluma campus is set to open Feb. 9 to the public and Huerta Gym will be open Feb. 10. The Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Hall is slated to be open for vaccines by Tuesday, Feb. 16.
"We are committed to continue ramping up our vaccine distribution effort to reach even more of our population in an equitable way," Lynda Hopkins, chair of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, said. "With these new clinics, in partnership with our health care providers, we can now start serving even more seniors who are most at risk at this time."
Last week it was announced that 11 Safeway locations within Sonoma County would be providing vaccinations to eligible residents as well as CVS Pharmacy which plans to start administering vaccinations at all 100 plus locations across California.
Currently, there are three other clinics providing vaccines to persons 70 years or older at The Cloverdale Train Depot, Grace Pavilion, Guerneville Elementary and Analy High School and one location at Rohnert Park Community Center vaccinating people older than 75.
