Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) announced Janelle Sellick as the 2023 Napa County Climate Crisis Champion for California’s Fourth District. Rep. Thompson’s Climate Crisis Champions demonstrate significant efforts to protect the environment in our community and combat the ongoing climate crisis. They advocate for the urgent need for action on climate change and inspire others to get involved. Through their work, they are helping to build a more sustainable future for all.
“Combatting the climate crisis requires an all-of-the-above response, and that means educating our communities about the impact of the climate crisis and how we can work to address it. Janelle’s work to educate the people of Napa County makes clear her dedication to this issue,” said Thompson. “Janelle’s leadership in the development of the Napa River Ecology Center will help educate our community about the impact of climate change and provide a space for important climate action. My optimism about our future lies in inspiring initiatives taken by people like Janelle, and I am proud to honor her as Napa County’s Climate Crisis Champion.”
Janelle was born in Westlake, California and holds a master’s degree in Recreational Administration from California State University, Sacramento. Janelle’s impressive contributions within the district continue to grow as she leads the development of the Napa River Ecology Center which will provide a space for climate change education and environmental action. Janelle’s input for the development of the Watershed Explorers Environmental Education program remains valuable as the program serves every fourth grader in American Canyon and develops the next generation of environmental stewards.
