On March 15, Women’s Recovery Services of Sonoma County (WRS) will celebrate a remarkable milestone—50 years of providing life-changing recovery services to women and their families in Sonoma County. This momentous occasion will be honored with a special celebration at the Friedman Center in Santa Rosa. Every Sonoma County resident who wants to participate in the success of this important program should plan to attend.
For five decades, WRS has been a beacon of hope for women caught in the destructive cycle of addiction, offering them a path to recovery, stability, and a brighter future.
Since its inception, WRS has provided residential recovery services, and a safe and supportive environment where women can rebuild their lives. One of the unique aspects of the program is its commitment to keeping families together—allowing women to bring their children with them as they work toward recovery. This family-centered approach is crucial, as it not only helps mothers regain their health and sobriety but also ensures the well-being and stability of their children.
WRS's services extend beyond initial recovery. The organization operates a residential recovery campus and three long-term care homes, offering immediate support, as well as extended housing options for women and their children.
With the unwavering support of compassionate staff and the empowering sisterhood of women in recovery, WRS helps women regain the strength and tools they need to break free from addiction and rebuild their lives. For many women, rebuilding includes strengthening their roles as Moms, and WRS helps make this happen by keeping Moms and their children together through the recovery process.
The impact of WRS on women, their families, and the community is immeasurable. By helping women at their lowest point, WRS provides them with the opportunity to rediscover their self-worth, heal from past trauma, and emerge as empowered individuals. The work at WRS is not just about recovery; it's about creating lasting change, offering hope, and building a healthier, stronger community for all.
