Rep. Mike Thompson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 4th district, shared a series of tweets addressing various topics including veterans' legacy, agricultural contributions, and tax relief guidance. Thompson, who has been serving since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999, is known for his advocacy on several issues.
On March 18, 2025, Rep. Mike Thompson expressed concern over the administration's actions regarding the recognition of national heroes. He stated, "Unthinkable that the Administration is erasing the legacy of our country’s heroes. Pfc. Ira Hayes is one of many Native American heroes who served honorably and helped us to victory in WWII. Every veteran, regardless of party stripe, should be outraged."
The following day on March 19, he highlighted the significance of agriculture in his district on National Agriculture Day. He tweeted about the contributions of local agricultural workers: "From our spectacular almonds and grapes, to our prunes, olives and more in #CA04 there’s a lot to celebrate on #NationalAgricultureDay. To the over 14,000 ag workers in our district who keep our agricultural community the envy of the world: Thank you!"
Later that day on March 19, Thompson provided information regarding tax relief for PG&E Fire Victim Trust Recipients under his Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2023. He stated that guidance had been released by the IRS for taxpayers entitled to refunds: "Qualified PG&E Fire Victim Trust Recipients: The IRS has released guidance for taxpayers who are entitled to refunds under my Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2023. For information on how to file your refunds, please see the below guidance posted by the IRS."
