He criticized U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer for not providing solutions during a "Ways & Means Committee" meeting to address the economic concerns of the proposed $6 trillion policy. In another post later that day, Thompson expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a coherent strategy regarding tariffs, observing that "the President pulled the plug" on the proceedings while Greer was testifying.

The following day, on April 10, 2025, Thompson took to social media to remember a somber occasion. He commemorated the two-year anniversary of a tragic shooting at Louisville’s Old National Bank, which resulted in the deaths of five people. He expressed a commitment to honoring their memories by continuing efforts to improve community safety.
