On April 9 and 10, 2025, Rep. Mike Thompson of California's 4th district used social media to express his views on several pressing issues. Thompson addressed economic policies under the current administration, specifically focusing on the impact of tariffs and a recent congressional testimony he attended. Additionally, he took a moment to commemorate a tragic event from two years ago.

On April 9, 2025, Thompson highlighted the financial burden imposed by the President’s tariffs on American families, stating they are costing families "...an extra $3,800 per year and upending foreign markets for American businesses and ag producers." He criticized U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer for not providing solutions during a "Ways & Means Committee" meeting to address the economic concerns of the proposed $6 trillion policy. In another post later that day, Thompson expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a coherent strategy regarding tariffs, observing that "the President pulled the plug" on the proceedings while Greer was testifying.

The following day, on April 10, 2025, Thompson took to social media to remember a somber occasion. He commemorated the two-year anniversary of a tragic shooting at Louisville’s Old National Bank, which resulted in the deaths of five people. He expressed a commitment to honoring their memories by continuing efforts to improve community safety.

Mike Thompson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress since 1999, represents California’s 4th district. Born in St. Helena, California, in 1951, Thompson has been involved in legislation over various critical issues throughout his career. A graduate of California State University, Chico, he has been actively engaged in his community, leveraging his role in Congress to effect change.
