Rep. Mike Thompson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 4th district since 1999, took to social media to express concerns and provide commentary on various issues affecting veterans and federal policies. Born in St. Helena, California, in 1951, Thompson has been actively involved in legislative matters.

On April 10, 2025, Rep. Thompson expressed his honor in joining Democratic leaders to hear from veterans who are reportedly experiencing the repercussions of significant job cuts attributed to a collaboration between the President and Elon Musk. Thompson criticized the administration for allegedly firing thousands of veterans from federal positions, diminishing veterans' health services, including the veteran suicide hotline.

On April 11, 2025, Thompson issued a statement regarding the House passage of the Senate Republicans’ budget. Though details of his statement were not included in the post, Thompson's engagement with the legislative process on fiscal matters was evident.

Further, on the same day, Thompson questioned a claim made by Vice President Vance regarding restrictions placed on phone services for Social Security recipients. Vice President Vance attributed the restrictions to alleged widespread fraud, with a claim that "40 percent of the people who are calling are actually committing fraud." Thompson countered this by highlighting reports from the Social Security Administration.

Mike Thompson, who graduated from California State University, Chico in 1982, continues to reside in St. Helena, California, actively engaging in policy discussions pertinent to his constituents.
