Rep. Mike Thompson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 4th district, shared a series of tweets addressing community engagement and national issues. Thompson has been active in public service since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999.
On March 21, 2025, Rep. Thompson invited Middletown residents to join him for "Coffee with the Congressman" to discuss community issues. The event was scheduled from 11 am to 12 pm on the same day. "Middletown residents: I will be hosting Coffee with the Congressman today, March 21st, from 11 am to 12 pm. Please drop in to discuss issues impacting you and our community."
Later that day, he addressed claims regarding Veterans Affairs employees under President Trump's administration. He emphasized a discrepancy between statements made by the President and actions being taken concerning VA staffers. "#FactCheckFriday When asked about his plans to fire Veterans Affairs employees, the President recently stated that: “We love our veterans. We’re gonna take good care of them.” FACT: President Trump and Musk’s DOGE is firing 83,000 VA staffers."
On March 22, Rep. Thompson commemorated the victims of a mass shooting at King Soopers in Boulder, Colorado, which occurred three years prior. He highlighted Officer Eric Talley's sacrifice and called for action to honor their memory. "Three years ago today, a gunman took ten innocent lives at a King Soopers in Boulder, Colorado... We must honor their memory with action."
