On November 18, 2024, Rep. Thompson announced an event for Clearlake residents focusing on senior issues. He stated, "Clearlake Residents: My team is hosting in-person office hours on senior issues this Thursday, November 21st from 12 to 2pm! Drop in to discuss with my team any senior-related support you may need and stay tuned for more sessions throughout our district."

The following day, November 19, 2024, Rep. Thompson expressed his sorrow over the death of former Assemblymember Patty Berg. He wrote, "Saddened by the passing of former Assemblymember Patty Berg who served California’s 1st assembly district with pride from 2002 to 2008. Patty was a friend and a fantastic legislator, and she will be dearly missed. My condolences to her loved ones."
