Rep. Mike Thompson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 4th district, recently shared a series of tweets covering various topics of community and national interest. Born in St Helena, California, and a graduate of California State University, Chico, Thompson has been active in Congress since 1999.

On January 22, 2025, Rep. Thompson celebrated the induction of Vallejo-native CC Sabathia into the MLB Hall of Fame. He expressed his pride by stating: "CC is headed to Cooperstown! Congrats to Vallejo-native CC Sabathia on your official induction the MLB Hall of Fame. You make our community proud!"

Later that day, he addressed infrastructure needs by highlighting the importance of short line rail for rural and small communities. He announced plans for new legislation aimed at enhancing tax credits to modernize and maintain these essential rail lines: "Short line rail is critical for rural and small communities to connect to suppliers and distributors. Introducing legislation to expand our tax credits and help ensure these rail lines are modernized and maintained just makes sense."

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Thompson commented on a tragic event in Nashville, Tennessee, emphasizing the ongoing need to address gun violence: "Another tragic shooting, this time in Nashville, Tennessee. We must continue our work to reduce gun violence and keep our communities safe."
