Mike Thompson discusses health insurance enrollment and honors chef Darryl Bell

Rep. Mike Thompson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 4th district, has shared several updates on his social media platform. Thompson, who replaced Frank Riggs in 1999, was born in St Helena, California in 1951 and resides there today. He graduated from California State University, Chico in 1982 with a BA.

On January 25, 2025, Rep. Mike Thompson highlighted the availability of affordable health insurance through Covered California. He stated that "Covered California offers access to affordable, high-quality health insurance, with many plans available at little to no cost. Enrollment is open now."

The following day, January 26, 2025, he congratulated Napa's Darryl Bell for being recognized as a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: California. In his post he expressed support by saying "Congratulations to Napa’s Darryl Bell, chef and founder of Stateline Road Smokehouse, for being named a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: California! Great work, Chef Bell."

On January 27, 2025, Rep. Thompson reflected on International Holocaust Remembrance Day by honoring the memory of those lost during the Holocaust and emphasizing the importance of combating antisemitism and hatred. He stated "On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we mourn the six million Jewish people and countless others who were murdered in the Holocaust. As we reflect upon this dark chapter in history, we must reaffirm our fight against antisemitism and hatred in all forms."
