Mike Thompson addresses USAID criticism and Parkland anniversary

Rep. Mike Thompson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 4th district, has been actively engaging with his constituents and addressing national issues through social media. Born in St Helena, California in 1951, Thompson has been a congressional representative since 1999 after replacing Frank Riggs. He holds a BA from California State University, Chico.

On February 14, 2025, Rep. Mike Thompson shared his thoughts on a recent press conference held by President Biden and Elon Musk at the Oval Office. During this event, Musk claimed that USAID did not provide adequate value for its foreign aid expenditures. In response to these claims, Thompson emphasized the importance of USAID's role in national security by stating: "Fact: USAID’s foreign aid is critical to our country’s national security."

Later that day, Rep. Thompson commemorated the seventh anniversary of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. He expressed his commitment to advocating for policies aimed at preventing gun violence: "Today, we remember their lives, hold the Parkland community close, and continue our work to pass sensible policies that keep guns out of the hands of..."

Additionally, Rep. Thompson invited Napa residents to participate in an upcoming town hall meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 19th at CrossWalk Community Church. The event will also be available for viewing on his Facebook page: "Napa residents: Join me for a town hall this Wednesday..."
