Mike Thompson addresses social security claims and privacy concerns

Rep. Mike Thompson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 4th district, shared a series of tweets addressing various issues on March 14 and 15, 2025. Thompson, who has been in office since replacing Frank Riggs in 1999, took to social media to discuss topics ranging from Social Security to data privacy concerns involving Elon Musk.

On March 14, Rep. Thompson addressed a claim made by Elon Musk regarding Social Security benefits. "FactCheckFriday Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, claims your hard-earned Social Security benefits are a 'Ponzi scheme.' FACT: Social Security is an earned benefit that allows over 153,000 residents in our district to retire and live with dignity and puts $3.4 billion..."

The following day, March 15, he criticized Republican efforts related to data privacy issues concerning DOGE's access to taxpayer information. "Ways & Means Republicans are attempting to block our efforts to investigate DOGE’s access to sensitive taxpayer data. Your personal data isn’t Musk’s playground. It’s time the Republican Party which is the majority party stand up to him and protect American taxpayers..."

Later on March 15, Rep. Thompson invited Vacaville residents for an upcoming event titled "Coffee with the Congressman." "Vacaville residents: I will be hosting Coffee with the Congressman this Monday, March 17th, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Please drop in to discuss issues impacting you and our community."
